Duties and Responsibilities: Works under the direction of the director of Communications or Dispatch Supervisor Works in conjunction with the ambulance director of Operations, Supervisor or Crew Chief assist with answering emergency and non-emergency phone calls, responsible for knowing and implementing dispatch related policy and procedure.
Salary: The average pay for a Police, Fire, or Ambulance Dispatcher is $14.66 per hour. Most people move on to other jobs if they have more than 20 years' experience in this field.
Education: The Ambulance Dispatcher programs and courses are offered through community and technical colleges, state agencies, professional organizations and approved training facilities. Usually covers CPR, emergency prioritizing, intervention techniques and ambulance route planning as well as computer systems used by dispatchers
